Lil Uzi Vert is the stage name of Symere Bysil Woods, an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. They are distinguished by their facial piercings, face tattoos, odd hairstyles, and androgynous clothing, with visuals based on a melodic approach to trap music.

WHO IS LIL UZI VERT

In the Francisville area of North Philadelphia, Symere Woods was born on July 31, 1995. They originally bought Jones’ 2005 debut album, and they were raised on Ying Yang Twins and Mike Jones. After hearing classmate William Aston freestyle over a remixed Chris Brown instrumental in the tenth grade, Woods started rapping, calling himself a “regular kid, I didn’t really wanna rap.”

When Woods dropped out of school, he immediately began working at a Bottom Dollar store. However, he resigned after only four days, and their mother then ejected him from their house. As a result of the circumstance, Woods got their first facial tattoo—the word “Faith” beneath their hairline—which inspired them to take their rap career seriously.

LIL UZI VERT CAREER

In 2010, Woods started rapping and started working with artists like Steaktown in projects that they claim were “just for money” under the moniker “Sealab Vertical”. After hearing someone characterize their rap flow as “Fast, like a machine gun,” they later changed their name to Lil Uzi Vert.

Woods appeared on Carnage’s single “WDYW” along with Rich the Kid and ASAP Ferg after being signed to Atlantic Records. They also published a number of tracks on SoundCloud, including “No Wait,” “Pressure,” a tune they collaborated on with Lil Durk, and “Dej Loaf,” all of which were produced by Metro Boomin. In August 2015, they were a part of the “Boys of Zummer” tour by Wiz Khalifa and Fall Out Boy.

To pay tribute to the late ASAP Yams, Lil Uzi made an appearance at a A$AP Mob concert in New York City in January 2016. After a disturbance broke out during SXSW’s final day during Woods’ performance, controversy ensued in March 2016. Lil Uzi Vert vs. the World, Uzi’s third mixtape and debut for a commercial label, was made available on April 15, 2016.

Uzi announced an EP called Red & White on July 12, 2022, with the intention of releasing it before The Pink Tape. Ten days later, the EP was made available. Prior to the EP’s release, Uzi made a handful of highly awaited tracks available only on SoundCloud. Again working again in September 2022, Uzi was a featured artist on Yeat’s Lyfe EP, which featured “Flawless” as its opening track. They released their hit tune “Just Wanna Rock” in October 2022 after it gained popularity on the video-sharing platform TikTok. Their highest charting single since the rollout, “Just Wanna Rock,” a Jersey Club-inspired tune produced by Synthetic and upcoming Jersey Club producer McVertt, peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 their highest charting single since the rollout of Eternal Atake.

As a man of modest height, Lil Uzi Vert is 5′ 4″. At five-foot-four he’s more than a few inches shy of average U.S. male height.
