History
Kwame Nkrumah founded the school in 1961. Hon. Kofi Asante Ofori Attah, M.P. for Akim Abuakwa and Minister of Justice at the time, lay the foundation stone for the structure on May 19, 1962. “Opassian” refers to an Ofori Panin alumni or graduate.
The school’s motto is “Dwen Na Som,” which means “Think and Serve,” and refers to the founders’ stated philosophy that everyone, male and female, should serve with a thoughtful mind and be ready and willing to serve themselves, their school, family, nation, and the world at large, beginning in the context of school life. The leopard and other materials were used to create the school crest. The leopard represents strength and wisdom, while the torch represents light on the path to victory, a cutlass, which represents the farming community of Akim Abuakwa, and a tree, which represents the rain forest of Akyem Abuakwa, which provides fertile land for the production of timber and cocoa, the backbone of Ghana’s economy.
Uniform Meaning
the color of the uniform has been designed with blue colour taking the majority of the schools colouirs. The school utilised the creative power of colours to create attractive and distinctive looks that appeal to everyone. It can be said that they care about the academic performance of their students and are also committed to their physical appearance.
