Cody Robert Simpson is an Australian swimmer, singer and actor, who has released four solo studio albums: Paradise (2012), Surfers Paradise (2013), Free (2015), and Cody Simpson (2022).

Simpson was born on January 11, 1997, to parents Brad and Angie in the Gold Coast, Queensland, neighborhood of Benowa.
In his earlier years, he excelled in swimming and attended All Saints Anglican School. Moreover, he received instruction from Ken Nixon, the swimming instructor at the Miami Swimming Club.
In 2009, Simpson started posting music on YouTube, covering songs including “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz, “Cry Me a River” by Justin Timberlake, “I Want You Back” by The Jackson 5, and “Wanted Dead or Alive” by Bon Jovi.
Cody’s Professional Career
He began uploading both original music and his own renditions of songs sung and written by well-known performers, like Justin Timberlake, for example. Later, he gained attention on YouTube, which launched his singing career. He achieved such popularity that the recording studio ‘Atlantic Records’ invited him to Los Angeles to release tracks.
In December 2009, The 7.30 Report covered Simpson’s ascent to fame. On May 15, 2010, he made available his debut song, “iYiYi,” which also features American rapper Flo Rida. Summertime, Simpson’s second single, received a music video on September 20 of that year.
In the 2014 television season premiere of the sitcom Instant Mom, Simpson made his acting debut as a guest star. He made a brief appearance as Pete, a high school student, in the American television sitcom Cougar Town in 2015. The same year, he was cast as himself and the love interest of Kira Kosarin’s character Ellie Jensen-Bauer in the Nickelodeon movie One Crazy Cruise.
In 2019, Simpson shifted his attention back to competition swimming, rejoining the Trojan Swim Elite squad at the University of Southern California under head coach Dave Salo.
Simpson, together with colleagues from the Griffith University Swimming Club Mack Horton, Bowen Gough, and Josh Edwards-Smith, competed in the Rottnest Channel Swim in February 2023, winning with a time of 3:33:49 and breaking the previous team record.
