The head of Ghana police service

Dr. George Akuffo Dampare is the head of the Ghana police service. The current Inspector General of Police is Dr. George Akuffo Dampare. Since the President, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, gave the order on August 1, 2021, he has been operating in that capacity until his confirmation and oath of office on October 8, 2021.

The Ghana police salary structure

The salary structure of the Ghana police service depends on many factors. The salary is based on their rank, working experience, gender, and also the type of certificate one is holding in the service.

With the rank aspect, the Inspector General of Police is the highest, and Constable is the lowest of all. Your position on the rank in the service contributes to your salary, officers with higher ranks receive a higher salary and vice versa.  

Also, degree-holder officers receive higher salaries than officers with WACCE certificates. Moreover, depending on the kind of skills and experience of police personnel will also contribute to his/her salary. The salary of the Ghana police also works with the single spine salary structure.

Let’s see how Ghana police officers average salary is. In Ghana, the average salary for a police officer is about GHS 2,750 per month. The lowest salary is GHS,1,300 and the highest is GHS 4,500.
