Susan Roces was a Filipina producer and actor. Susan Roces appeared in almost 130 films over her career and was well-liked by fans. Susan Roces was born on July 28, 1941, as Jesusa Purificacion Levy Sonora-Poe.
When she began acting in the Philippines, she used the stage name Susan. Over the course of her 70-year career, Susan starred in over 130 films, garnering her the nickname Queen of Philippine Movies.
Susan received five awards from the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS), including two for best actress. The Luna Awards also presented her with the Lifetime Achievement Award (also known as FAP).
The 80-year-old actress was most recently seen in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, which was named after her late husband’s 1997 film of the same name.
Susan starred as the protagonist’s grandma Flora in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, which has been running since 2015.
Susan Roces Cause Of Death
Susan Roces died on Friday, May 20, 2022, from a cardiopulmonary arrest, a type of heart failure. Her daughter, Senator Grace Poe, released a statement which read:
“With great sadness, we announce the loss of our beloved Jesusa Sonora Poe, whom many of you know as Susan Roces.
“She passed away peacefully on a Friday evening, May 20, 2022, surrounded by love and warmth, with her daughter Grace, her nephews Joseph and Jeffrey and many of her family and close friends.”
